Behavior Management
To make sure my students know how to behave in the classroom I will have a poster hung up on a wall in my classroom where they can see it all the time. The poster will say:
1.Care
for others
for the school environment
2. Courtesy
acknowledge others
speak politerly
use good manners
3. Respect
others and their property
school rules
4. Responsibility
be well presented
be punctual and prepared
do your best
Positive Reinforcement:
If a student is behaving then they get will get a sticker for every 5 dojo points they earn. They get to wear a hat in class for 10 dojo points.
If the students have 10-30 points they get to wear a silly hat, write with a special pencil, read a book to the class, get free ice cream, read the morning announcements (only for students with 30 points), no spelling test pass, or choose the song from my YouTube playlist during a brain break.
If the students have 40-70 points they get to eat lunch with the teacher, play an educational game on the computer, use the rolling chair as their desk chair (only for the students with 70 points), or choose any type of pizza to eat with the class, teacher, and the principal.
If the students have 100-200 points they get to choose between going to Main Event or Cici's pizza, they receive a trophy with their name on it saying "Best Behavior Award" (only for students with 200 points), or have the principal read to the class, or receive a formal letter signed by the principal or teacher for the student to show their parents (the letter would include how proud he/she is of the student and stating various positive things about the student.
Behavior problems:
If a student is not behaving then they will have to write a letter to their parents of what they did and send it home to be signed by their parent/guardian. If the student is still not behaving appropriately the teacher will call home and have the student tell them what he/she did and what they will do to fix their behavior. If this does not work then the student will write a letter to the principal and they have to read it to the principal and have it signed by him. If this does not work then the teacher will hold a conference with the counselor, the student's parents, and the assistant principal.
